Your Key West wedding is also your honeymoon. Of course, it's so easy to spend LOTS of time on Duval Street but...do yourself a favor and experience the natural side of Key West. After all, you are on a tiny island in the middle of the ocean. Below are a few of our favorite water activities.

Weddings in Key West

There was a time when a "destination wedding" was instead called "eloping". It usually meant the couple ran away and no one knew they were married until they returned with a marriage license. Of course, many couples still elope but times have changed. Now, a destination wedding can be a grand affair with all your friends and family invited or just the bride and groom. Almost every couple who decides to have a destination wedding say they "want to do something different". Below are a few of the other reasons why Key West is an amazing place for a desitnation wedding.

Key West Beach Weddings

Located on the Atlantic Ocean, Smather's public beach is about 3/4 to 1 mile in length. It is the largest beach on the island. The beach is accessible from a sidewalk (great for a jog or roller blading on another day!) which runs along South Roosevelt Boulevard. There are short flights of stairs about every 100 feet, which take you up to the beach. Each of these sets of stairs has a number. Concession stands and restrooms are located at the west end of the beach. We typically perform our ceremonies at the east end, where there are usually less sunbathers but there may be other weddings. Lots of palm trees and white sand make this a great beach for wedding photographs. Even though for a large part of the year the sun will set behind the island, there can still be great color and "mood" at sunset.

Miami's most elegant and historic hotel is also its most prestigious black-tie wedding destination, and its prices reflect this. But you get what you pay for: the food is superb, and the Biltmore's gardens, terraces, and ballrooms are some of the most beautiful, ornate wedding locations anywhere in Miami. Miami's most elegant and historic hotel is also its most prestigious black-tie wedding destination; its prices reflect this.

The Venetian Pool in Coral Gables may be the most unique and romantic wedding site in Miami. It is the only swimming pool anywhere to be included in the National Register of Historic Places, and it features vide-covered loggias, a Spanish fountain, three-story observation towers, shady porticos, cascading waterfalls, and a lagoon with caves of coral rock. This historic area, transformed from a coral rock quarry in 1923 also includes a beach, island, and cobblestone bridge.
